Max Lad 2015 Senior Puppy International Winner & 6th today.

Dawstown Spark back to back Easter drag hunt winner @ ballygarvan & blackpool

This holiday weekend's annual meet was the M O'Mahony memorial drag hunt @ Harrisons cross Blackpool, At 4pm the Senior hounds lined up and were slipped out the start, after 29 minutes running it was The Howler Jack and Saturday's winner Mossy,Denise rall's Son Of Magic & Bully Mike IHT who drove for the finishing tape,In what was described to myself  as being a close, but it was The Howler Jacks day beating Mossy bully mike was 3rd & denise rall's son of magic 4th ,John O'callaghan's AWOL took the 5th ticket and Ken longs Blue Shadow 6th.

Midday Charm winner of the last 3 senior drag hunts finished well back in the field along with Kieran lynchs consistent hound Awesome & Bounty.

The Maiden honours of the day went to Don & Martina Mc G Grath of Northern Hunt who's hound Dawstown Spark completed a back to back 48 hour brace of wins.
Bertie (Dawstown Spark)

Winning on Saturday @ Ballygarvan & today @ Blackpool, reports from today suggest the hounds were covering the ground very quickly at the main divide Dawstown spark & his litter brother were running in 6th & 7th same position as Saturday and when Dawstown Spark led the last road there was no way any hound was going to catch him as he finished in impressive style on the long downhill finish to the tape.

Lynn Busteed's casper took 2nd place , Kerry pike's Star-man was 3rd, misty jack was 4th , Blackholm completed a brace of 5th place tickets for John O'callaghan & Don & Martina's Max Lad took 6th place.

A sweet weekend for the Mc Grath Kennel, some of you will know about Martinas background with drag hunting ,her late Father Garry gave over 50 years of unbroken service to the sport & I'm sure today he was looking down with a huge smile.

Although Martina has always been around hounds it was only the last few years that herself & husband Don started to kennel and run hounds with a very good amount of success, Don loves the sport and Martina's love for animals is 2nd to none which is clearly a winning working combination for their kennel,

As in England women trainers are a force to be reckoned with in drag hunting in Ireland, with many a trainer winning major drag-hunts over the years, Long has it turned from a working mans sport into a family event & long may it continue.

With only 4 weekend's to go until the mid season Blue riband event thats the 2016 International hosted this year by the Cork City Harriers Association ,every trainer will want to get as much good running as possible for their hounds with out any injury to try to be competitive to land the International.
