This weekend was the opening drag hunt meeting of the 2016 for the C.C.C.H.A season, hosted by the Irish Hound Trailers.
On Saturday trainers made their way to Ballinadee to line up their pups to see how they would fare after being trained over the winter months,with a field of 23 pups they were lined up and slipped at 3PM, after 15 minutes running it was Southern & Carragalaine Harriers Black Jack, trained by Ken,Trina long who landed the opening puppy trail of the 2016 campaign.
Sunday was the Senior & Maiden hound drag hunts, in what would be a stern test of fitness & stamina for any hound in an opening drag hunt both races would be around the ten mile mark and it would be around 30 minutes running.
The Senior spoils went to Mayfield's Midday Charm trained by Andrew Gary & Newley web Darren O'Callaghan, The Howler Jack picked up 2nd place with 3rd & 4th places going to Donie Duggan's Gypsy woman (now with Griffen united) & John O'Callaghan's AWOL who had a change of kennel over the winter months also put in a good run for his new trainer, 5th & 6th places went to Rosebud & 2015 All Ireland winner Son of Magic.
Maiden hound honours went to Pat Leary's Small & Dainty of Northern Hunt , Misty jack took 2nd spot with Marie & Christy Keating's , Dark Destroyer 3rd , John O'Callaghan's Blackhole 4th & Timmy macs shears-park taking 5th and blue magic of northern hunt taking the 6th place ticket.
Next weekend's meet is hosted by Griffen United
