FYI ,for all those that are travelling over to England for the international,
From the west you will leave Carlisle at Junction 43 and head east on
A69 (Carlilse to Newcastle Road). Follow the road until you come to
Greenhead (which the junction is half way down a hill, be careful speed
cameras on here) turn left here within about 100 yards you will be at a
junction with a pub on the corner (think its called Greenhead Arms?)
here turn right and head along the old Roman Road (B6318) this road is
very straight and bit roller coaster you will travel around 10 miles on
here you will pass "Housesteads Vercovicivm Roman Fort" a few miles on
from here you come to Sewingshields and the entrance to the field this
will be signposted access to the trail field is up an old road which is
quite lengthy and bumpy.
Just be aware last year the A69 ended up being closed at Brampton and
traffic was diverted through the lanes and surrounding villages can get
quite complex unless you know where you are going!
