Week four into the 2016 Irish drag hunting season saw this weeks meet hosted by Southern & Carragaline Harriers.
The puppy drag hunt was held on good Friday , 19 pups lined up and it was Bernie Rall's mossy's son who took the honours after notching three 2nd places at the opening three meetings , Damien wades slievemish fire 2nd ticket & 3rd place went too the consistent kennel of timmy mac's shearspark kid.4th 5th & 6th were picked up by katie's gem , heidi's boy & midday sky another 3 tickets from the available 6 going to the Mayfield Harriers.
Saturday it was the senior & maiden grades who headed out to Ballygarvan in what can only be described as atrocious weather.
Bernie Rall's Mossy notched up his first win of the calendar beating daughter Denise Son Of Magic into 2nd place & Kieran Lynch english bred Awesome moved up the tickets to take 3rd place after her two 6th place tickets in recent weeks, Leah's choice Crawford & bounty took the 3 remaining tickets in the senior grade.
The Maiden honours went to a delighted husband & wife team of Don & Martina McGrath of Northern Hunt ,with their hound Dawstown Spark beating Northern Hunt club hound blue magic trained by Pat Leary in a good drive to the tape,Kerry pike's Starman took the 3rd ticket ,he's there again Timmy Macs Shears-park Bacardi took 4th & Shearpark mars beauty 6th place & Magics boy 5th .
On the whole another great weekend of sport for Irish drag hunting some great races & good courses,we all know how much hard work goes into getting the courses & with the support of the Irish faming community our sport continues.
This bank holidays Monday meet is hosted in Blackpool as it has been for many a year & It's an Open Memorial Drag Hunt in remembrance of M O'Mahony.
