|
Kerry pike early 1970 |
Sean was born on the 20th February 1959. Sean grew up in Kerry Pike with his mother father 3 brothers & sister, Sean's first job was a mechanic which he did for many years , in the early 1990's he went into the transport business starting his own company Transcounty , Sean was hard working man and worked in his business Transcounty up until 2012 when he had to give up work due to health issues.
It was Sean's older brother Geoff who introduced Sean to the working mans sport of Drag-hunting in the late 1970's ,after the introduction to the sport Sean's love for the sport was sealed like many before him.

they say behind every man in drag hunting is a woman who gets
all the small things done right, it's a team sport and Sean & Monica were a great team |
|
Sean early 1970 |
Sean was a member of the Kerry Pike Harrier club & remained loyal to that club until his final days when he passed,Sean & Monica made some life long friends through drag hunting.
Sean enjoyed the simple things in life walking his hounds & competing with his hounds in the drag hunting season & when that was over he was a keen follower of hunting hounds

A proud Sean holds the Mayfield club trophy which he won last year
with his hound Starman |
A typical Irish man he loved a pint with the lads in his favourite pub the Joshua Tree in blarney street ,his daughter tells me it was his local for 30 years it could have been his home for 30 years ha ha ha , You would always find Sean in the josh in the traditional Monday club & often at weekends wife his Monica & many of the friends they both had.
I know Sean myself from travelling to Ireland for many a year following the sport of drag-hunting & i always wondered why he was called Seanie pool when his name was Sean Walsh , So in his younger days Sean was a semi professional pool player & quickly found out he could make a few bob on the green baize & there it was set in stone seanie Pool

Sean & Mad Max 2013 |
Sean had many hounds over the 40 years in the sport of drag hunting Mac Adam , rooney , montego bay to name a few , one of Sean's favourite hounds he would ofter talk about was Mac Adam Sean won the International with Mac Adam as anyone knows the big drag huntings meetings are always difficult to win as every trainer has their hounds in top condition for the blue ribbon events in the late 90's Sean won a puppy international as well with puppy international with Montego bay.
Sean met Monica in the 1980's In Kilkenny on a bus outing organised by the Rest Bar in Kerry Pike , they married in Clogheen church on the 12th July 1986 & had their first daughter Joy in 1989 & Susan in 1992.
Sean had a heart condition and was on the list for a transplant he often talked about walking his hounds again once the transplant was done sadly he never got his wish, but Sean's love for the sport of drag hunting will continue in his son in law James & daughters joy & Susan & wife Monica , Sean loved James like a son & they often had keen rivalry over Sean's other passion being Manchester united ,James being a Liverpool fan i can imagine what Sundays were like when both teams were playing in the Walsh family home the Joshua tree, James & Sean's hound Star man was 2nd last weekend in the Fairhill maiden grade & only last night Star man produced a fine run to win the re run for the Walsh family.
