After a long winter break the 2017 Cc&Cha drag hunting season kicked off today with the opening meet hosted by Clogheen @ Glenville.
With all the puppy training over the winter months now behind them it was time to see how the pups would shape up in a full line up of hounds from each participating club at the opening drag hunt,
Over the winter practise drags it has been Pat Mahony pup Miracle who has been showing lots of potential along with Pat Leary's brace Lady & Glen, Vanessa & Joe Simpson sent 4 pups to Ireland, A brace of dog hound pups went to Gary & Adam Osullivan , ken & Trina long also have a dog hound and Nipper a dog hound, The litter was bred out of their own hound Calypso (HTA) & Keith Lynchs Endeavour also (HTA) all 4 pups have been flying in Ireland & have learnt their trade well pre season.
So the day & time was set the hounds were slipped at 3pm slip @ Glenville & off they went into the cork countryside reports are from various road crossings on the course that the first 6 place hounds were chopping & changing for the lead Gary & Adam O'sullivans Step Aside was stuck in the drag all the way around and led a couple of roads, Pat Leary's Lady & Pat Mahoney's Miracle were stuck in it all the way around, with a few checks thrown in by a various hounds it surely made a great spectacle to watch for a neutral, as the call went up it was Pat Learys Lady & Gary & Adam O'Sullivans Step Aside who were in a nip and tuck battle for the opening puppy drag hunt honours Step Aside just got up by a head from the consistent bitch Lady, Pat Mahony took 3rd & 5th places with Miracle & Mystery Glen was 4th for Pat Leary & Kyle McCarthys Whacker was 6th
