50TH INTERNATIONAL DRAG HUNT 2018 @ Stauke Donoughmore

This year is the 50th running of the International drag hunt to be held in Stauke Donoughmore Ireland

In 1968 the race was won by Cumbrian Trainer Jimmy Glaister & his hound Shamrock, @ Cloyne  with a very good attendance of english hounds travelling to Ireland from both the Hound training association & the border hound training association ,as you can see from the results below the english hounds won both the senior & senior maiden drag hunts and took 9 tickets from the 12 available on the day.

Over recent years & with restrictions on hounds travelling and cost of travel english hounds have been few and far between in attending the international meetings in Ireland and the same can be said for Irish hounds travelling to Cumbria to compete in the blue ribbon events.


Jimmy's family who are still active in sport in Cumbria to this day with his granddaughter Sarah have plenty of success as well.

Last years senior winner was Back to back International winner Ashtree who was also bred in England & landed the double for father & son Team john & Brion O'callaghan of Griffen united , senior pups was won by not now cato of Clogheen ,

Maiden pups went to Vincent murphy of the Kerry Beagle assocation & senior maiden honours went to Francis Carroll & his hound rockstar of the ICDA.
